Tortuga Verbena

Tortuga is the Spanish word for turtle, and the rounded flowers of Tortuga Verbena beautifully mimic a turtle's shell. Vivid, 2"+ flowers bloom in continuous free flowering clusters. Full foliage and a spreading habit accent the four colors: White, Hot Pink, Red and Peach. (And only with Tortuga do you get a true Peach color! Shown at right.)

Print-friendly Version

Verbena Tortuga - Peach

Light requirement: Verbenas love sunshine - the more the better. Plus, butterflies will find them in the bright light! Good in any (even hot) spots in the garden or pots.

Water and fertilizer: Tortuga loves a well drained soil and can tolerate dry conditions better than most.

Suggested uses: Flower beds, patio containers, and combination hanging baskets!

While much of the information in this tip is applicable in several gardening zones/climates, some of the plants and timing suggested are best suited to the Northwest, generally in the mild/wet growing regions found along the I-5 corridor. You should make appropriate adjustments or consult local gardening experts in regions whose climates differ from this area of the Northwest.
