An easier way to control weeds in your garden.

Landscape FabricDo you love growing beautiful flowers and plants, but hate constant weeding chores? Then here's a great way to keep the weeds down in your garden beds. Plus it's a solution that will also block weed growth along rock paths and under decks.

When planting new areas or replanting old ones, finish up the project by laying down landscape fabric around your plants. Landscape fabric is a far better alternative to that old black plastic we used to use -- that's because landscape fabric not only blocks weeds, it's also porous so it allows moisture and nutrients through to nourish your plants.Printer-friendly Version

The benefits of landscape fabric:

  • Blocks existing weeds from growing and prevents airborne weeds from taking root.
  • It's a great alternative to using chemicals to control weeds... a real plus if you have children or pets, and for our environment.
  • It's porous, allowing water and nutrients through to feed your plants.
  • Won't sterilize the soil beneath it like black plastic tends to do.
  • Helps soil retain moisture, so your plants get the more benefit from less water.
  • Resists breakdown from sunlight, so it lasts for years.
  • Easy to use... simply cut with regular scissors or a utility knife.
  • Fungus, bacteria and mold won't grow on the fabric.
  • Can reduce erosion caused by heavy rains.
  • Helps keep soil warmer for extra protection during cold snaps.

Landscape fabric is easy to use...

  1. Lay the fabric over the planting site. It's lightweight and trims with common scissors or a utility knife.
  2. Cut out around existing plants or insert new plants through cut-outs in the fabric.
  3. Put down a 2" layer of bark dust or mulch to hide the fabric and give a finished look.

Give landscape fabric a try this planting season. You'll love how it saves you weeding time and makes it easier to keep your garden neat and beautiful.
